House renovation and office refurbishment
NJC Services are fully qualified and accredited experts in house renovation and office refurbishment:
- House renovation and office refurbishment
- Preparing scaffold access agreements
- Project supervision and client representation
We’ve worked on schools, sports clubs, data centres and many other commercial type buildings too!
As Chartered Building Consultants we are experts in repair and refurbishment work of existing buildings.
We inspect, assess and specify what building works are required.
We specialise in the following:
- Repairs and alterations to Freehold and Leasehold properties
- Retail alterations and refurbishments
- Office refurbishment and fit out works
- Residential property refurbishment
- Mansion block redecoration and repair
- Individual house renovation, redecoration and repair
- Water damage repairs (insurance work)
- Flat and pitched roof renewal
We will naturally arrange for quotations to be prepared by contractors, normally based on our own specification or scope of works and analyse them before making any recommendations.
The works can then get supervised if required on a regular basis or as agreed between parties, which would include regular reports and updates on the progress. The final accounts will also be prepared and provided which outline any cost variations and the final contract sum to be paid.
If you need help with a house renovation, office refurbishment or any other commercial project where we could add value, please contact us today.
You may have the legal right to go onto the neighbouring land for the purposes of carrying out certain works. You can find out at the Land Registry. If the register mentions any “easements” (i.e. rights over a third party’s lands) to carry out certain maintenance works, then you may be able to refer to this if the neighbour is being obstructive.
You do, however, have recourse to the Access to Neighbouring Land Act 1992. The Act allows the court to grant an applicant a temporary right of access in order to carry out basic repair works and/or maintenance works to the applicant’s property.
Be aware, the Act draws an important distinction between repair works and/or maintenance works and improvement works. Access for improvement works will not be granted under the Act.
If you feel your neighbour is unlikely to grant you temporary access it is possible that, by drawing their attention to the existence of the Act as mentioned, the two of you could agree upon a temporary licence. A well drafted licence will cover issues such as safety, security, the control of dust and working hours as well as confirming the expected duration of the access. This can be drawn up legally by a surveyor(s) which may also include compensation appropriate to the level of inconvenience etc.
We pride ourselves in managing construction work from inception to completion, creating a good working relationship with the client and contractor ‘as a team’ to achieve the final goal of a completed project on time and to a high-quality finish. It is also necessary that the project is carried to specification and executed safely. On some projects it is also necessary to instruct a CDM Co-ordinator to manage the health and safety requirements and aspects of the designer and principle contractor.
All projects require some form of contract administration duties where all costs and payments are controlled throughout the project and dictated within a signed contract. The final accounts are then agreed when the works are complete. The type of contract will depend on the procurement route and the type/cost of project. Site visits are also carried out, however to a lesser degree than full project management.
Our projects cover work for domestic extensions/refurbishments, commercial adaptations/refurbishments and work to business units.
Depending on your requirements we can either project manage or carry out contract administration duties.

Highly recommended. Extremely professional and thorough.
I’m absolutely delighted to have utilised Nick’s services.
Polite, professional, courteous and damn good at his job.
All round top bloke too.
He was always on hand to give us advice and managed our project and builders extremely well.
Would absolutely recommend him. In fact, I would insist that people use him!
NJC Services managed the project to refurbish front and rear elevations of 8 Collingham Place, SW5.
They were a pleasure to deal with throughout: professional, reliable and courteous at all times with an ability to put complex building issues into plain man’s language.
NJC drafted the original specification of works and found an excellent contractor through a well run tender process and managed the contractor carefully providing frequent and clear updates to the Residents Association.
Most importantly, the project was completed within the budget and with all residents expressing themselves delighted with the result – the best looking property in the street!
I should like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation of the way in which you managed the recent building project at the school
Throughout the project you were very proactive and worked closely with both the school and the contractor.
We found your regular site visits, careful monitoring of the project and the meticulous minutes you kept most helpful.
This was a project where it was of paramount importance to keep costs down and make savings wherever possible.
We very much appreciated the way in which you worked with the contractor to look at possible ways of saving money while not compromising the build.
The records that you kept of these amendments were most thorough, and ensured that the school was regularly updated with all expenditure and cost savings, enabling us to accurately budget for the project.
We would welcome the opportunity to work with you again, and, should we be undertaking building work in the future, we would most certainly approach you to manage the project.
Nick Beynon of NJC Services has been engaged by us as a sub-consultant on various occasions and particularly during 2005 and 2006.
Projects have included the specification, tender and management of the refurbishment of smaller office buildings in Mayfair (Clifford Street and Bond Street) with contract values of between £65,000 and £100,000.
NJC Services conducted the work in a competent and professional manner at all times and the projects were delivered as expected.
I was recommended to Nick as a potential project manager for the complete refurbishment of my home and engaged Nick at our first meeting.
I subsequently worked with Nick for over a year. Nick was responsible for the specification of the works, the management of the tender, the appointment of the builder and then the project management of the works co-ordinating all aspects of project with both the interior designer and builder.
Throughout the project I found Nick highly professional and his commitment and attention to detail ensured the works were completed on time and within the budget.
Beyond that, and something which is often underestimated but critically important when working together over a number of months is that I really enjoyed working with Nick.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Nick to any prospective new clients.
