External refurbishment of a block of flats

NJC Services were engaged by a freehold client of a block of six large Victorian detached mansion block flats in Notting Hill. Due to the position, type and elegance of the building, the owner wanted to carry out extensive repair works and needed to comply with the obligations of their lease.

The building was constructed with solid brick, stucco type render, pitched slate cover roofs, asphalt flat roofs/ balconies, various parapet gutters and inset timber sash windows.

There was much conservation and restoration repairs (major works) to be carried out. Works including general decorations to keep the building wind, watertight and aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Repairs were particularly required in various areas due to ongoing water ingress issues that had not been resolved in previous years by other parties.

The role of NJC Service was to ensure that traditional materials were used as much as possible and any damaged detailing repaired to protect the building’s history. NJC applied their knowledge in building pathology in order for the correct repairs to be made.

It was crucial to monitor the works on a regular basis, deal with unforeseen issues and manage the accounts effectively to have the works done within budget.

Final result….one grand building, back to its formal glory with happy owners!
